Terms of Service

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Platform. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian. We may require additional verification before you can earn or withdraw money. If your country prohibits the Platform, you may not use it.

2. Your Account

You're responsible for everything that happens under your account. Keep your password secret. Tell us right away if you suspect unauthorized access. You may not share, sell, or transfer your account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or pose risk to other users, the Platform, or third parties.

You can close your account at any time from the app. Some obligations (for example, around content licenses you've already granted, payment reconciliation, and legally required record retention) survive termination.

3. Your Content

You keep ownership of what you post — text, photos, videos, comments, translations, and anything else ("Your Content"). By posting Your Content to the Platform, you grant Global Village a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, modify (for formatting and accessibility), publicly perform and display, distribute, and use Your Content as needed to operate, improve, and promote the Platform. This license ends for new uses after you delete the content, except for backups, audit records, and copies others have already shared or saved.

You promise that Your Content is yours to share — you either own it or have the rights you need — and that posting it doesn't break the law or anyone else's rights. We don't pre-screen content. We can remove content that violates these Terms or community rules and we can decline to display it without telling you in advance.

4. Acceptable Use

Don't do any of the following on the Platform:

• Harass, threaten, or incite violence against any person or group.
• Post content that is defamatory, hateful, or sexually exploitative of minors.
• Post content you don't have the right to post.
• Spam, scrape, or use automated tools to access the Platform without our written permission.
• Attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer, or compromise the security of the Platform.
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation.
• Use the Platform to facilitate illegal activity, fraud, or sanctioned-jurisdiction transactions.
• Manipulate votes, earnings, or recommendation systems.

Each community on the Platform also has its own rules set by its moderators. You agree to follow those rules in addition to these Terms.

5. Moderation

The Platform uses community moderators and a shared reporting system to enforce rules. Users can report posts and comments; moderators review reports and may remove content, issue warnings, or ban users from a specific community. Repeated violations across communities may lead to a platform-wide ban, which is reviewed by a Global Village administrator before it takes effect. We act in good faith and try to apply rules consistently, but we don't guarantee any particular outcome.

6. Intellectual Property

Global Village, its logos, design, source code (where not open sourced), and trade dress are owned by Global Village Platforms LLC or our licensors. Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership of our intellectual property to you. You may not use our marks without our written permission.

7. Copyright Complaints (DMCA)

If you believe content on the Platform infringes your copyright, send a notice to dmca@globalvillage.app with: (a) your contact information, (b) identification of the copyrighted work, (c) the location of the allegedly infringing material on the Platform, (d) a statement that you have a good faith belief the use is not authorized, (e) a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and you are authorized to act, and (f) your physical or electronic signature. We will respond as required by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Repeat infringers may have their accounts terminated.

8. Third-Party Services

The Platform integrates third-party services to provide functionality — for example, Supabase (database and auth), Mux (video), Apple and Google (push notifications, sign-in), Sentry (error monitoring), and Resend (email). When you use those features, the third party's terms and privacy practices also apply. We're not responsible for those services' acts or omissions. As we add features (for example, payments and earnings), we'll update this list and notify you as required.

9. Translations

Users may submit translations of posts and comments. Translators grant Global Village the same license described in Section 3 for their translations. We may credit translators alongside the translated content. The original author retains rights to the original work; the translator retains rights to the translation, subject to the licenses granted here.

10. Beta and Experimental Features

We sometimes ship features marked as beta, experimental, or preview. They may change or disappear without notice and may not work as expected. Use them at your own risk.

11. Disclaimers

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy of content, and uninterrupted operation. We don't warrant that information shared by other users is true, complete, or safe to act on. Verify before you act.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Global Village Platforms LLC, its officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Platform. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Platform is limited to the greater of (a) the total fees you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars (USD 100.00).

Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations. In those places, the limits apply only to the maximum extent allowed.

13. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold harmless Global Village Platforms LLC, its officers, employees, and agents from any claim or demand made by a third party arising out of (a) your use of the Platform, (b) Your Content, (c) your violation of these Terms or applicable law, or (d) your violation of any third-party right.

14. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.

Before filing a formal claim, you and Global Village agree to try in good faith to resolve any dispute by sending written notice to legal@globalvillage.app and giving us 30 days to respond. If we can't resolve it, the dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Dallas County, Texas, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.

Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect intellectual property or confidential information.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may change these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we'll let you know — by email, in the app, or on this page — at least 14 days before it takes effect. Continued use of the Platform after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms. The "Last Updated" date at the top reflects when the current version went live.

16. Miscellaneous

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any rules posted in specific communities, are the entire agreement between you and Global Village. If any part of these Terms is held unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce any right is not a waiver of that right. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of substantially all of our assets.
